Adoption by Step-parent. This is a situation where a step-parent is adopting their spouse's child from a previous relationship. Step-parent adoption is one of the most common types of adoption today because it gives the step-parent legal recognition as the child’s parent. Without this legal status, the non-custodial birthparent may be able to assert their parental rights should the custodial birthparent become incapacitated. A step-parent adoption therefore offers security to the child and family. Mr. Pine can assist you with termination of the parental rights of the non-custodial parent and adoption by the step-parent.
Adoption by Relative. This is where the child is to be adopted by their grandparent, aunt or uncle.
Adoption by Co-Parents. In this situation the child is to be adopted by an unmarried same sex couple or unmarried opposite sex couple or when the biological child of one partner is adopted by the other partner. Adoptions by co-parents include domestic partners and births through artificial reproductive technology. In cases involving artificial insemination, it is important to legalize the parental relationship in order to give the non-birth parent the same rights as the birth parent.
